The future of Oracle JD Edwards & Cloud
With a planned roadmap in to 2024 and support until 2032, Oracle continues to invest in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne application. Multiple innovative features and enhancements have been added, JDE 9.2 has just been released and many more great features are likely to follow. So where does Cloud fit in for the JD Edwards community?
Larry Ellison, Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO, recently shared his vision on the future of JD Edwards and Cloud. Larry Ellison is expecting an ongoing transformation for the upcoming years, “it is at least a decade long journey as people start consuming the cloud.’’
For most JD Edwards customers their cloud migration is a gradual process, implementing it piece by piece. As Larry Ellison said it: ‘’you are not just going to lift it up and move it over’’. We already see a clear trend that new possibilities with HCM, EPM, Finance, CX and Procurement cloud modules are integrated with on-premise EnterpriseOne. As Larry Ellison continued: “you might start with just one of our Oracle cloud products like Oracle HCM and EPM solutions and your organization starts walking up the learning curve. The customer gets an opinion about cloud and might realize: this is more cost effective than I thought, maybe we can accelerate the schedule. Or not.”
As the JD Edwards community begins consuming the cloud, we are seeing middleware solutions and integrations playing an even more prominent role in the customer IT landscape.
